UZEM Achieves Second Place in AGU Continuous Improvement Awards
Abdullah Gül University (AGU) Distance Education Application and Research Center (UZEM) has been awarded second place in the Education category of the AGU Continuous Improvement Awards with its project titled “From University Problems to Global Solutions: Continuous Improvement Model.”
Implemented in the Fall semester of 2024 within the GLB101 course, the project engaged nearly 600 first-year students. Through learning Kaizen and Universal Design Thinking methods, students identified social, environmental, and academic issues within the university and developed innovative solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
The initiative not only enhanced students’ skills in problem-solving, collaboration, and creative thinking, but also encouraged them to adopt a sustainability-oriented mindset. By the end of the project, students presented over 100 applicable solution proposals to improve campus life.
This recognition highlights UZEM’s commitment to innovative and student-centered education while significantly contributing to AGU’s sustainability vision.

The AGÜ Continuous Improvement Awards have been announced. In the education category, the second-place award was accepted on behalf of AGU Distance Education Center by the Center Director, Lecturer Dr. Melike Aygün Çakıroğlu.
